Lea Ypi – Indignity

The philosopher knows what it means when certainties disappear. As a teenager in Albania, she experienced the end of communism and the collapse of state structures. Her literary debut, “Free“, became a bestseller, and her new book, “Indignity“ has just been published. As a professor of political theory at the London School of Economics, Lea Ypi thinks more broadly and fundamentally than others about the challenges of our time. She laments the inequality created by neoliberalism and what that means for our societies. She wants to see a new political project that does not rely on the strength of individual states, but on cooperation and equal rights for all.

At FREIHEIT DELUXE Jagoda Marinić and Lea Ypi discuss why people doubt democracy, what appeal an EU weakened by crises still has, why borders only apply to certain people and why fear is an important factor in writing literature.
